Seventh National Dialogue Seminar: “ The Dangers Lurking on the Democratic Transition Process”
ADF organized its seventh national dialogue seminar on the dangers lurking on the democratic transition process in Tunisia in Hammam al-Shatt on 25 August 2011. The seminar discussed the democratic future of Tunisia and the risks it could face during this delicate period. The participants agreed that the most serious threat to the democratic transition process being experienced by Tunisia is the monopolization of the political arena and merits by a single party or current. Moreover, various political currents, civil society constituents, and national figures demanded that the right to liberty be secured in the context of a pluralistic climate which guarantees the right to difference of opinion.
The participants called for the necessity of adjusting the role of civil society organizations in supporting the mechanisms of democratic transition in Tunisia, as well as transferring those experiences into all components of civil society and asserting the founding of a democratic civil state based on respect of liberties, rule of law, and human rights.
