Election Observation: Encounter between the Tunisian National Observers and the Arab Delegation of International Observers
ADF called on a large group of graduated observers to meet international Arab observers present in Tunisia in order to exchange experiences and knowledge and enable them to learn from the experiences of field observation. Mr. Neji Argoubi, member of the Tunisian Association for Integrity and Democracy of Elections (ATIDE) -which participates in election observation with more than 2000 observers- and one of the graduates of the Training of Trainers course, praised “the excellent scientific level and the competency of the Arab experts who moderated the ADF program to build the capacity of observers in Tunisia. He indicated that this program distinguished itself from all the other initiatives which were launched by other civil society organizations, both local and international.”
Mr. Mohsen Marzouk stated: “For the purposes of implementation of the recommendations of the Board of Trustees and the Executive Committee, ADF continued its contributions to the provision of appropriate conditions to complete the Tunisian Constituent Assembly elections. After the Training of Trainers, the Training of Observers, and the publication of a manual of procedures, we worked on contributing to raise the capacities of election follow-up teams. We hope that the elections would run smoothly, as they are the first step towards a complex and long-term transitional process. We still have ahead of us a post-election work program for which we will exert all the necessary effort to implement.”
