Follow-up Workshop on Transitional Justice Mechanisms
Adding to its series of academic workshops on transitional justice, the Arab Democracy Foundation, in partnership with the Al-Kawakibi Center for Democratic Transitions, organized a Follow-up workshop on Transitional Justice Mechanisms inaugurated by the Foundation’s Secretary General and conducted by Moroccan transitional justice expert, Mr. Chaouki Benyoub. A number of lawyers, judges and notaries participated in the workshop.
The workshop focused on several themes aimed essentially at developing a mechanism to facilitate the establishment of the National Commission for Transitional Justice and determine its features. In addition, attendees discussed drafting a final report that will support the work of the Ministry of Human Rights and Transitional Justice and aid the National Constituent Assembly in crystallizing the national strategic vision for transitional justice.
ADF Secretary General, Mr. Mohsen Marzouk, called for the assembly to approve the creation of a High Commission for Transitional Justice and determine its plan, he also urged the assembly to develop a national strategy that takes into account Tunisia’s distinct situation. Finally, ADF recommended holding a national conference on transitional justice to keep abreast of the accelerated changes experienced by the country.
